Judge says arrest of Quanell X legal.

A judge decided Monday that police had sufficient reason to believe civil rights organizer Quanell X was trying to evade arrest earlier this month as he was bringing a shooting suspect to the police station for surrender. Quanell X maintains that he thought the police were surrounding his car with lights and sirens as a form of official escort to the downtown police station, where he was expected to bring the fugitive. In a courtroom packed with activists including several young men wearing military-style New Black Panther Party uniforms, prosecutors showed a police video of Quanell X driving a black Hummer in front of a patrol car, with its police lights and sirens activated, for more than a mile. Quanell X was arrested June 11 as he attempted to turn in Derrick Forney. Forney was wanted for the shooting of a Houston police officer. [more]

I have never seen or witnessed so much racism until this year when the evacuees from New Orleans came to Houston. I am a frequesnt reader of the Houston Chronicle, and what I find on the forums or blogs are ridiculous. The hatred that white people have for us is sickening.

I need to contact Quanell X regarding my nephew being jailed for 90 years for a car jacking @ gun point. When the car was found w/guys in the car he was not there nor were any of his finger prints in the car. He was Id'd by a video line up and his court appointed attorney had a stroke and came back and tried his case with illness. He was 19 @ the time and has been in jail for the past 10 years. Our family needs help.

i think it's funny that while i was looking up information on Quanell X, i stumbled upon countless websites that call for the unity of black men and women not to kill or hurt each other (with no mention of not hurting other races). When at the same time, any white person that calls for white unity, is quicly labeled a white supremist. lets looks at this for a minute

doesn't this make the black panthers black supremists? so why isn't that phrase throw around as much as the term 'white supremist'?

racism only goes one way. white's that don't like blacks. for some reason people want to overlook the fact that there are just as many black racists, then there are white racists. But the blacks racists are only look upon as trying to help their race. Like the NAACP. there is no group making sure that whites don't get a raw deal. if there was, they would be racist, huh?

i'm confused. do blacks work hard for equality, or do they want to be different? they talk about how they need to take care of each other and set up special groups to watch out for one another. doesn't this seem like blacks are trying to be their own people instead of all people are the same like the government and media tries to portray us?
