Judge says arrest of Quanell X legal.
A judge decided Monday that police had sufficient reason to believe civil rights organizer Quanell X was trying to evade arrest earlier this month as he was bringing a shooting suspect to the police station for surrender. Quanell X maintains that he thought the police were surrounding his car with lights and sirens as a form of official escort to the downtown police station, where he was expected to bring the fugitive. In a courtroom packed with activists including several young men wearing military-style New Black Panther Party uniforms, prosecutors showed a police video of Quanell X driving a black Hummer in front of a patrol car, with its police lights and sirens activated, for more than a mile. Quanell X was arrested June 11 as he attempted to turn in Derrick Forney. Forney was wanted for the shooting of a Houston police officer. [more]

Here we go:
What is a commnity activist?
Does Quanell fit that description?
The only reason I ask is...for the most part people in Houston take him or his antics as a joke. Whenever someone is trying to justify another person killing, robbing,etc.. someone (no matter the cause) people look at you and what your doing in a different way.
I would love to see someone as influencial as him just say "they messed up" they will deal with the consequences.
My "great idea" for Quanell is to start from the bottom and work up. Can you (everyone) imagine if instead of being "reactive", meaning he tries to change people/things that he has little control over. He was "proactive". When I say that I mean start with the kids in the low income neighborhoods. He could take the guys that surround him with their fancy hats and Johnny Cash outfits and go door to door asking parents if their kids need help with and school work. I'm sure some of these guys can do algebra or geometry. Just a simple tutor would do so much. Maybe get a group of people together that would go around picking kids up for school. Show them someone cares and give that mom or dad a chance to have some alone in the moring to plane out there day, maybe put a roast in the crockpot clean up a little something. That right there is a true activist in the neighborhood, that is breaking the cycle. Right now is seems like Quanell is what some people call "wasted talent". I just feel he could do so many more positive things for this city, it hurts sometimes to see him caught up in the "cycle". Let me know what you think if anyone reads this. I am willing to go door to door helping anyone. Getting out there and doing something is the only thing that is going to change the path many of these kids are on.
