Schwarzenegger's political honeymoon reaches an end

He is paying the price with Latino legislators and activists for trying to have it both ways on the controversial issue of driver's licenses for illegal immigrants. Schwarzenegger used the issue to motivate conservative voters in the recall campaign, leaving the impression he was steadfastly opposed to giving licenses to illegals. But he also said all along he was open to some sort of compromise. Now, Democrats are accusing him of backing away from just such a deal. [more ]
