Minorities Lack Health Insurance

The number of adults without health insurance increased from 23.7 percent in 2001 to 24.7 percent in 2002 and 26.4 percent in 2003 in the 85 metro markets surveyed regularly by The Media Audit. Among the 85 metro markets surveyed, the Houston and Miami areas have the largest percentage of adults without health insurance at 34 percent; Dallas/Ft Worth is next with 33.3 percent. The percentages vary significantly from market to market.
