Cuban American Bar Association Condemns Racially Charged Video Game

The Cuban American Bar Association ("CABA") has sent a letter to the manufacturers of the video game "Grand Theft Auto-- Vice City" condemning the game's use of racially charged remarks promoting the hate and killing of Haitians and Cubans. The letter, signed by CABA President Ramon A. Abadin, and copied to U.S. Attorney John Ashcroft and Florida Governor Jeb Bush, calls upon the Federal and State governments to join CABA in seeking the removal of the offensive video game from store shelves throughout the country. The letter also demands an official letter of apology from the manufacturers to the Cuban and Haitian communities. CABA's letter quotes the Haitian government spokesperson, Mr. Mario Dupuy, who stated, "this racist game is psychologically extremely dangerous and is an incitement to genocide." The letter further states that CABA has "a special interest in assuring that such violations of an individuals civil rights are immediately identified and stopped." [more]
