NCAA leaders mostly white, study shows

Despite significant diversity on the fields of play, college athletics remains overwhelmingly white among its leadership. An extensive study released Wednesday reveals a predominance of white males among presidents, athletic directors and coaches employed by the 117 NCAA Division I-A colleges and universities. The numbers skew white for 94.9 percent of presidents, 92.5 percent of the athletic directors and 94.9 percent of football coaches. Beyond those numbers, 91 percent of the faculty athletic reps and 100 percent of the commissioners are white. The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport at UCF released "The Buck Stops Here: Assessing Diversity among Campus and Conference Leaders for Division I-A Schools," in the hopes of leveling the playing field when it comes to hiring practices.
