Lesbian Thesbians: How distorted news of the "down low" camouflages reports of HIV produced through lesbian sex

Before you read this you must remember this is a blame society, not a problem-solving society. This column will show you how lesbian relations became HIV/AID's unknown protected culprit through government censor and a rare close-mouthed policy from female homosexuals. Back in 1993 a Reuters news report stated that "transmission of the AIDS virus through female-to-female sex is rare, but not impossible, say health officials who are investigating the case of two HIV-positive lesbians" Hmmm, could it be that it was considered "rare" because attention to women being the sole cause of their own AIDS was rare? If so, today things are worse. In 1998 109,311 AIDS cases occurred among US women but data on lesbian exposure was missing in half those cases.


I wrote before that I never bought into the hype about a mysterious number of Black men who are otherwise family men, or single brothers but are now looming under a spector of the "down low" theory, and are therefore the primary cause of why innocently-portrayed Black females now comprise the highest percentage of the HIV-positive population. It's alarming enough a rumor for us straight Black males to be concerned about, because common sense dictates that one side is taking too much blame, and another side is getting a free ride. It smells fishy because everyone at least assumes that women out-number men, and Black women especiallyoutnumber Black men. Also, is it me, or do you note that women seem more openly affectionate in public? Obviously in most cases this means nothing, but what percentage of open woman-to-woman affection turns into steamy bedroom tryst on the DL? The book "Untold Millions" reports 6.4% of women contacted in a survey considered themselves lesbians compared to 5% of men calling themselves gay. If openly gay women outnumber openly gay men, how-now the down low lezbos? Yes Virginia, there is such a thing, but the idea of the "down low" began in a board room, and not a bedroom.

The traditional masculinity of the Black male has always been feared, and therefore under the most fire. Black men have in real life "saved the world and got the girl," through his efforts in establishing civilization, building great cities, technology, warfare, arts and athletics from ancient Africa right down to today. Since being highly-exposed to official European interdiction roughly 400 years ago, the goal has been to de-masculinize the African through slavery, after slavery came exposure to discrimination, drugs, prisons, and sexual deviancy. There is no more an intentional power-of-suggestion within the framework of American society than to refuse to acknowledge the Black father, and his heroism, and only hilight his buffoonery and moral weaknesses, than through educational and media manipulations. The "down low" theory is a clever ploy, it punishes Black men who have kept free of all the Euro/White vices by demonizing them under a shadow of doubt cast over them by those closest to them, Black females, other Black males, and of course White females. Why should these AIDS researchers focus on lesbian-only-HIV? It serves their purpose not to.

It's not that wimin-on-wimin is low risk for HIV, researchers now believe these women have been ignored and enabled, and the lesbians in turn have gone into a form of deniel. The Advocates for Youth website says, "some women who have sex with other women are uncomfortable with routine gynecological care, including PAP smears and STI (sexually transmitted infection) screening... in a nationwide study of 6,935 self-indentified lesbians 17.2 percent reported a history of STIs,... Underreporting of HIV among lesbians seems likely given that many women are reluctant to aknowledge their sexual orientation to their doctor."

There are all types of Black commentators writing columns out there, trying to explain as to why Black women comprise such a large percentage of HIV/AIDS diagnosis. I've seen every factor in male-to-female relations blamed from the "down low" to violent beat-downs (still scratching my head on that one, getting AIDS from an ass-whippin'), anything to revert blame back to the black man, ya'll need to quit. Lesbian sistas are partly responsible, Black women outnumber Black men 15,908 mil. to 13,203mil., but we are to believe Black gay men outnumber Black gay women, especially the Secret Slurppin' Sistas. What's also not being reported is the official line by many lesbians to not consider themselves gay: "we're not gay, we're angry," as one website quotes them. They don't seem angry enough to realize that the government always knew they were at risk, but wouldn't disclose it. Lesbians can contract HIV by more than just needles, by default oral sex exposes them to vaginal secretion, and menstrual blood. Though lesbians produce HPV (human paploma virus); a woman-to-woman HIV-only stronger-no data tracks the percentage of lesbian females among the HIV/AIDS cases with Black women.
