Black farmers and their supporters were vocal Saturday
in their demand that the federal government stop foreclosing on
African-American farmers and release the $2.5 billion they say belongs
to them. Nearly 2,000 people, some from as far away as Texas, roared
their approval at the Lake Terrace Convention Center as they agreed to
endorse a declaration by the Black Farmers and Agriculturists
Association Inc. to challenge what they say is a government conspiracy
to deny them money from a civil rights lawsuit settlement. [more]
