Economic Recovery for Who?
Not Blacks and Latinos. Labor situation not good for minorities.

The economic expansion has not been equal. Minorities lag behind whites in employment and earnings more than two years after the 2001 recession officially ended. The gap between minorities and whites has been wider than unemployment figures suggest. That's because African-Americans and Hispanics dropped out of the labor market in greater proportions since the recession. "Minorities on average have less education, fewer skills, face discrimination in the labor markets and live in communities that have weak economies," says William Rodgers, professor at Rutgers University. 'They are on the lower rungs of the job ladder. Many have gotten discouraged and given up looking.' Pictured below:Latino workers in Silver Spring, Md., wait for work at a day-labor center. [more]
