The very notion that anyone should ever have to hand over $20 or more to cash a $600 paycheck has always struck me as nasty business. So it's super to see some serious competition hit the check-cashing business, even if everyone has a motive. Go into a Kroger store and a banner above the grocery carts proclaims: "Kroger now cashes payroll checks." The price is $5. If the payroll check is less than $50, the service is free.
