AZ - Rally at Mesa City Hall pushes for justice
The newly formed Multicultural Coalition for Economic and Social Justice held a rally City Hall yesterday. The 42-member group - which includes Teresa Brice-Heames, who challenged Mayor Keno Hawker in the March election - called for 90 to 120 days of negotiations with city officials to resolve its concerns. The coalition's six-point agenda aims at bettering the lives of many Hispanic and minority residents in Mesa. About 22 percent of Mesa's residents are Hispanic. [more]
