A veteran Dallas
police officer was put on routine leave Wednesday after police say he
shot and killed a man overnight at a Comfort Suites hotel on Northwest
Highway. The officer involved in the shooting was a 21-year veteran of

hands before officers fired. Welch is from Stephenville. He was staying
at the hotel while undergoing treatment for a bad back. [
