BERKELEY: CITY OFFICES CLOSED IN HONOR OF MALCOLM X

All Berkeley city offices will be closed on Friday in observance of the birthday of Islamic African-American civil rights activist, Malcolm X, according to the city Web-site.

Malcolm X was assassinated in New York City as he delivered a speech to a crowd at the Audubon Ballroom on February 21, 1965.

X was born Malcolm Little on May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was 39-years-old when he was assassinated and would have been 81-years-old this year. [MORE]
