AP -Puerto Rico will know who its next governor will be on Wednesday,
however the winner will not be certified until Christmas festivities
are over, election commissioners from the two main political parties
announced. Thomas Rivera Schatz, election commissioner for the New
Progressive Party, said the recount at the Operations Center of the
State Elections Commission will be finished between Tuesday and
Wednesday. His Popular Democratic Party counterpart, Gerardo Cruz,
agreed that it would finished by Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday
morning, according to a newspaper. Cruz said Anibal Acevedo Vila will
win the election by 600 votes more than he obtained on Nov. 2. In the
preliminary results, the PDP candidate had a lead of 3,880 votes over
Rossello, without counting and adjudicating the votes added by
hand. [more]
