The
AP (1/26, Lester) reports Howard Dean "won support Tuesday from several
black" DNC members "for his bid to be DNC chairman." Dean "won the
support of Yvonne Atkinson Gates, chair of the DNC's black caucus,
Rep.Jesse Jackson Jr. of Illinois and Minyon Moore, a longtime DNC
member and former aide to President Clinton." The Washington Post
(1/26, Balz) reports that in unveiling "more than a dozen endorsements,
including those of several prominent African American members of the
DNC and Alma Brown, widow of former party chairman and commerce
secretary Ron Brown," Dean is "seeking to build a sense of momentum
behind his candidacy." Still, "several prominent DNC members said they
believe the race for party chairman remains an open battle." The Frontrunner January 26, 2005
