Two years before Sudan was awash in the current crisis,
award-winning videographer Eddie Harris II was trekking across the
barren country with the Rev. Al Sharpton, recording the turmoil that
has escalated from ethnic cleansing to full-blown genocide. For the
last several months, Harris has been working diligently, weaving hours
of film footage into a compelling documentary "Moon Over Sudan." There
are gripping scenes of Sudanese villages that have been ravaged by the
Janjaweed, "the devils on horseback," who have spared neither women nor
children in their merciless raids. "We had the opportunity to see with
our own eyes the result of unchecked corporate greed and the inhumanity
suffered by black Africa," Harris told TBWT in a recent interview. "I
am glad I was able to capture it all on film so that I could show the
rest of the world this extreme violation of human rights." [more ]
