Rodriguez decries lack of Hispanic speaker at GOP convention
Rep. Ciro Rodriguez ripped the Republican Party today for not
scheduling a Hispanic speaker during prime-time television coverage of
its national presidential nominating convention. Rodriguez, a Democrat,
also charged that the GOP selected San Antonio Republican Henry Bonilla
to be co-chairman of the convention as a token effort to put a
Latino face on a party that favors the wealthy at the expense of
Hispanics. "They continue to neglect our community, then they present a
façade,"said Rodriguez, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus chairman. [more ]
