A former field director for the Florida Republican Party
has sued the organization in federal court, accusing it of racial
discrimination. Nadia Naffe also named the Republican National
Committee and Bush-Cheney '04. Naffe says that, as the only black field
director during her eight-month tenure, she was assigned exclusively to
work with black organizations, events and issues. Naffe says she
complained, but was told: "You understand your people." After refusing
further such assignments, Naffe said she was called insubordinate and
accused of not being "a team player." She contacted the U-S Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission. Soon after, she says, she was fired.
