Cuba: U.S. Military Transmitting Radio, TV Marti

U.S. military aircraft have started transmitting
Radio and TV Marti to override Cuban jamming of the land-based
signals. President George W. Bush set aside $18 million in May to pay
for the flights. The timing of future broadcasts is classified to give
them a better chance of reaching their intended destinations in Cuba.
C-130 cargo planes are being used to deliver the broadcasts to the
communist island. Miami Republican Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen
said she's sure Cuban President Fidel Castro is enraged by the new
transmissions. [more ]
