African-American employees are suing sportswear maker
Nike for alleged job discrimination at its flagship Niketown store on
Chicago's Michigan Avenue. Fifteen current and former black employees
filed an amended federal lawsuit Monday charging managers denied
African-Americans higher-paying commission sales positions, segregating
them into stockroom jobs with a starting hourly wage of less than $8 an
hour, the Chicago Tribune said. Lawyers are seeking class-action status
for the suit, originally filed by two former employees in December. [more]
