Marcus Dixon, who received national attention earlier
this year for a sexual assault conviction that was overturned by the
Georgia Supreme Court will play football at Hampton University.
Although, it was undisputed that the sex was consensual he was
nevertheless found guilty. His sentence, 15 years in state prison,
created a national firestorm. Many in the African-American community
believed that Dixon was unjustly convicted because he is black and his
accuser is white. His story received national television attention on
HBO's Real Sports and Oprah Winfrey. Dixon spent 15 months
in jail for aggravated child molestation and statutory rape before
having his racially charged conviction overturned by the Georgia
