Three children, two American soldiers and an Afghan policeman died in
two new attacks by people suspected of being Taliban rebels in
Afghanistan, Afghan and American officials announced Saturday. Two
American soldiers died and three others were wounded on Thursday when
an improvised bomb detonated under their vehicle in Uruzgan Province in
southern Afghanistan, the American military officials said. In an
attack in northeastern Afghanistan on Friday, men suspected of being
Taliban rebels set a truck on fire and then detonated a bomb when a
local police chief arrived in the Asmar area of Kunar Province, Afghan
officials said. The explosion killed one of the police chief's
bodyguards and three children who had gathered at the scene. [more ]
