Mosque officials says leader not involved in terror funding

Members of the United Muslim Mosque predicted their president's name would be cleared after his home was raided by FBI agents this week as part of a terrorism funding probe.  Majeed Sharif's home in Wolcott was raided Wednesday by FBI agents investigating a Sudanese charity, Islamic African Relief Agency, accused of supporting Osama bin Ladin and other terrorists.  Magdy Galal, the mosque's vice president, told reporters Friday that the Sharif's efforts were humanitarian. He said the mosque had distributed the charity's literature and took donations for it. If the charity had any ties to terrorism, neither Sharif nor the Waterbury Muslim community was aware of it, he said. [more ]
