Three black female managers in the New York
office of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security were abruptly
removed from their posts and two of them were sent out of state without
assignments -- raising complaints of a "modern-day lynching." The
mysterious transfers came after one of the women and a white male boss,
who had promoted her, received an anonymous letter in reference to a
merger with the rival New Jersey office. The letter said: "If you think
you are taking over Newark with your staff of STUPID BLACK C---
BITCHES, You are DEAD WRONG. You can't imagine the consequences if you
keep pushing." Yvonne Smalls, 53, who received the letter, Theresa
Regis, 49, and Charlene Monroe -- all veteran employees who earn more
than $100,000 a year -- say they were respectively banished to Texas,
Florida, and another New York office on Aug. 13 and replaced by white
males. "I never expected such hatred," Smalls told The Post. All three
women say they were not told of any problems with their performance. [more ]
