American Muslim voters are overwhelmingly supporting Democratic
presidential candidate John Kerry over Republican George W. Bush,
according to a new American Muslim Poll conducted by Zogby
International. Zogby conducted the poll for Georgetown University's
Muslims in the American Public Square (Project MAPS). According to the
telephone survey of 1,700 Muslims chosen randomly nationwide -- and an
"over-sample of 146 face-to-face interviews of African-American
Muslims" -- Muslims backed the Kerry/Edwards ticket over the
Bush-Cheney ticket, 76-7 percent. Adding Ralph Nader into the mix,
Kerry's lead drops to 68 percent to Bush's 7 percent, with Nader
picking up 11 percent support from Muslims. [more ]
