First defendants sentenced in attack at Denny's restaurant

Two men were sentenced Monday to four years and three
months in federal prison for their roles in a racially motivated attack
on two black men at a Denny's restaurant. Two other defendants have
pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing. Wilson and Wright entered a
Denny's restaurant after midnight on June
17, 2001, with white women - Wilson's girlfriend and Wright's wife.
Witnesses told authorities the five defendants stared at the victims,
words were exchanged and a fight broke out. All five were avowed white
supremacists, prosecutors saidThe five men were indicted in January
after a nearly three-year long
investigation. The indictment alleged they conspired to injure,
oppress, threaten and intimidate Maurice Wilson and Kenny Wright to
prevent them eating at the restaurant because of their race. [more]
