The US is expected to circulate a revised draft UN
Security Council resolution on Sudan Tuesday as supporters for the
resolution press for a vote this week. The new draft will include
a regional arms embargo on Darfur and threaten sanctions on the
Sudanese government, despite opposition by Russia, Pakistan and China
on the inclusion of a threat of sanctions. The three countries
have also called for Sudan to be given sufficient time to meet its
commitments under a July 3 agreement with UN Secretary-General Kofi
