South Dakota's voter ID law is either unfair and
designed to suppress American Indian voters, or it is a necessary
safeguard against one person voting in the place of another. The state
Legislature's State-Tribal Relations Committee heard both views
Thursday in the first public hearing in the wake of complaints that
some voters were wrongly turned away from the polls in the June 1
