More than 85 suspected illegal immigrants have been detained this week during a crackdown on human smuggling at Los Angeles International Airport, and authorities said they believe the initiative was beginning to cause a backlog for smugglers. But immigrant rights groups said they were concerned about racial profiling and claimed the arrests were politically motivated in an election year. [more]
