public safety auditor is considering an independent probe of a series
of DNA tests given to black men by the Omaha Police Department, a move
which will anger the police union. "It's a violation," said police
union President Tim Anderson. "Her considering doing this simply
violates the ordinance." Anderson learned this week that Tristan Bonn,
the city's public safety auditor, may consider an investigation. A
number of black men have been targeted for DNA testing as police try to
track down a serial rapist. The police chief has defended the action. [more]
