Showing support for immigration reform; Group pushes for new law, against sweeps
Even
though Joel Ávila never participated in marches to push for immigration
reforms that helped undocumented workers, he was among thousands of
people who benefited from changes in U.S. law enacted in 1986. On
Tuesday, Avila said it was his turn to help others earn legal status.
He joined close to 400 people marching from King City to Greenfield to
push for legislation that will allow thousands of agricultural workers
to obtain legal status in the United States and to protest arrests the
