LAWYER Ronald A. White, accused of
allegedly plying ex-City Treasurer Corey Kemp with illegal gifts and
trips, said yesterday he had not done anything wrong. The mayor's pal
was the first to raise a racial defense, saying the government had a
"cultural misunderstanding" about his relationship with Kemp. "We did
things for each other because we were friends," White said. "Corey Kemp
never asked me for anything, and I never asked him." White said the
government took a phrase like "my boy," a "term of affection" in the
African-American community, and "turned it into something else." [more]
