UFW and other groups plan marches- Decry Racial Profiling Immigration Raids

Afraid of being deported, hundreds of
undocumented immigrants in Monterey County have kept a low profile
during the past two weeks amid rumors that federal Border Patrol agents
have conducted enforcement sweeps on the Central Coast. But
Salinas-area immigrant rights groups want those immigrants to let their
voices be heard. Today, the United Farm Workers and other unions plan
to begin a sequence of five marches from King City to Salinas to
protest federal Border Patrol raids earlier this month in Southern
California and to call for changes in U.S. immigration laws. [more]
