Don't get it TWISTED. Reinstating the voting rights of ex-felons is
nice. BUT it has NOTHING to do with Jeb Bush secretly removing 48,000
persons off the Florida voter rolls.
Facing intense scrutiny over Florida's plans to
reinstate the voting rights of ex-felons who have served their time,
Florida Governor Jeb Bush recently announced that the state has taken
steps to clear a huge backlog of people waiting for the restoration of
their rights, and will clear 20,000 voters for the registration lists.
That's a step in the right direction - but it seems to be motivated
more by potential P.R. than substance. At the same time he's allowing
20,000 people to get ON the rolls, the Governor is still pushing
counties to take as many as 48,000 alleged "felons" OFF . [more]
