New bill in Congress to Prevent ''Floridation'' of the 2004 Election

A bill to prevent the wrongful purging of large
numbers of minority voters from voter rolls, as happened in Florida in
2000, has been introduced by Rep. David Price (D, NC). It has 29
co-sponsors and has been referred to the House Committee on House
Administration. The bill is titled: Protect American Voters Act of
2004 H.R.4250 Title: To amend the National Voter Registration Act of
1993 to require States to provide notice and an opportunity for review
prior to removing any individual from the official list of eligible
voters by reason of criminal conviction or mental incapacity. [more]
