One year after the Supreme Court upheld the consideration of race in college admissions, continued legal challenges and attacks against minority recruiting and scholarship programs again are threatening the footing of affirmative action. At the same time, fewer minorities are applying to colleges across Michigan, a fact some admissions officials attribute in part to a chilling effect from the rulings handed down a year ago Wednesday.
