Dozens of unemployed black New Yorkers and their
supporters marched from Ground Zero to City Hall Park Monday waving
signs and chanting, "What do we want? Jobs! When do we want them? Now!"
The protest by about 500 people was a response to a study released in
February by the Manhattan-based nonprofit Community Service Society,
which found that only 51.8 percent of black men in New York City were
employed in 2003, compared with 75.7 percent of white men. [more]
