Rhode Island Senate panel considers ban on racial profiling

Police departments statewide would be required to
document traffic stops for one year, under a bill the Senate Judiciary
Committee was to consider on Thursday. The so-called racial profiling
legislation follows last year's findings by Northeastern University
researchers that nonwhite drivers in Rhode Island were stopped in
disproportionate numbers compared to whites. [more]
