Ex-Assemblyman Roger Green, who resigned after pleading
guilty to charges he filed false reports and stole state funds, said he
was a victim of a double standard that punishes black politicians more
harshly than whites for ethical violations. In a telephone interview
from his Brooklyn home yesterday, Green said he decided to plead guilty
in February in large part because he would have faced an Albany justice
system and jury pool that was biased against blacks. [more]
