Officials use occasion to call for more Indian voters
Today
is the 80th anniversary of theIndian Citizenship Act, the landmark
piece of legislation that gave Native Americans the right to vote. The
anniversary comes one day afterIndian voters in South Dakota
participating in a special election went to the polls in smaller
numbers than the rest of the state.
