Handcuffed, Subdued Black Man Mysteriously Dies in Cobb County Police Custody

The NAACP is calling for an independent is calling for an independent investigation into the death of a man while in police custody. 48-year-old Alfred Fleming died on April 13th after police came to his house on a domestic call. Police say the officers got into a struggle with Fleming and were forced to use pepper spray. A short time later, Fleming became unresponsive and was taken to Cobb Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Edward Dubose, NAACP: "I stand here today and tell you there is no reason why a man who is handcuffed, pepper-sprayed and already subdued, should have died in police custody." The officers involved in the incident have been placed on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of an internal investigation. Cobb County police have not commented on this case. [MORE]
