A civil rights group accuses Austin police
of using excessive force against minorities and abusing their search
powers. A complaint filed by the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People against the Austin Police Department and
the city of Austin with the U.S. Justice Department seeks to block
about $3.2 million that the department receives from the federal
government until it changes the way it uses force against suspects and
trains officers to work with the minority community. [more]
